“দাঁড়াল” হলো ক্রিয়া ‘দাঁড়ানো’-এর অতীত রূপ; অর্থাৎ কেউ/কিছু দাঁড়িয়ে পড়ল, থেমে গেল বা স্থির হয়ে গেল—প্রসঙ্গভেদে ‘গাড়ি/ঘড়ি/কাজ’ ইত্যাদিও ‘দাঁড়াল’ বলা হয় (চলাচল বা কার্যকারিতা থেমে যাওয়া বোঝাতে)
