সংস্কৃত ‘ছেদ্য’ (√ছিদ্/ছেদ ‘কাটা/ছেদ করা’ ধাতু থেকে), অর্থ ‘যা ছেদন করা যায়’; বাংলায় বিশেষণ হিসেবে এবং গণিতে ‘dividend’ অর্থে ব্যবহৃত
