প্রাচীন ভারতীয় ভাষাগোষ্ঠীর ধাতু ‘লিখ্’ (অর্থ: খোদাই/লেখা) থেকে বাংলা ‘লেখা’ ক্রিয়া; ‘লিখতে’ হলো সেই ক্রিয়ার ইনফিনিটিভ/উদ্দেশ্যসূচক রূপ

From the Indo-Aryan root ‘লিখ্’ meaning ‘to scratch/inscribe/write’; Bengali ‘লেখা’ derives from it, and ‘লিখতে’ is the infinitive/purposive form of that verb.
