From Late Latin paraphrasis, from Greek paráphrasis ‘a rewording’, from para- ‘beside’ + phrázein ‘to tell, express’.
यह शब्द लेटिन paraphrasis के माध्यम से यूनानी paráphrasis (‘पुनः/अलग शब्दों में कहना’) से आया है; para- (‘पास/बगल में’) + phrázein (‘कहना/व्यक्त करना’) से बना है।
Definition
To paraphrase is to express the same idea using different wording, usually to make it clearer, shorter, or suited to a new context; it should preserve meaning without copying the exact phrasing.
पैराफ़्रेज़ करना यानी किसी लिखित/कही गई बात को अलग शब्दों में दोबारा कहना, ताकि वह अधिक स्पष्ट, संक्षिप्त या नए संदर्भ के अनुकूल हो; इसमें मूल अर्थ बना रहता है और शब्दशः नकल नहीं की जाती।
