Origin & History
From Latin transcribere (“to copy, write across”), from trans- (“across”) + scribere (“to write”); later via French/Latin forms into English.
लैटिन transcribere (अर्थ: “नकल करना/उतारना, एक जगह से दूसरी जगह लिखना”) से; trans- (“पार/आर-पार”) + scribere (“लिखना”)। बाद में फ्रेंच/लैटिन रूपों के माध्यम से अंग्रेज़ी में आया।
Definition
To convert speech (live or recorded), sign language, or audio into written text; also used for copying data from one medium to another, writing speech in phonetic symbols, arranging music for different instruments, and (in biology) producing RNA from DNA.
बोली हुई भाषा (सीधी या रिकॉर्ड की हुई), सांकेतिक भाषा या ऑडियो को लिखित पाठ में बदलना; इसका प्रयोग एक माध्यम से दूसरे माध्यम में डेटा उतारने, ध्वन्यात्मक चिह्नों में उच्चारण लिखने, संगीत को दूसरे वाद्य/स्वर के लिए रूपांतरित करने, तथा जीवविज्ञान में DNA से RNA बनने की प्रक्रिया (ट्रांसक्रिप्शन) के लिए भी होता है।
