গ্রিক strophē থেকে এসেছে, যার অর্থ “ঘোরা/বাঁক; কোরাল গানে একটি ‘টার্ন’ বা অংশ”; এটি streph(e)in “ঘোরানো/ঘোরা” ধাতু থেকে, লাতিন strophe ও পরবর্তীতে ফরাসি মাধ্যমে ইংরেজিতে এসেছে।
Definition
Strophes are groups of lines forming repeated units in poetry or lyrics (often like stanzas); in ancient Greek choral odes, a strophe is the first part, typically followed by an antistrophe.
Strophes বলতে কবিতা বা গানের কথায় বারবার ফিরে আসা গঠনগত একক/পঙ্ক্তিগুচ্ছ বোঝায় (প্রায়ই স্তবকের মতো); প্রাচীন গ্রিক নাটকের কোরাল ওডে strophe হলো প্রথম অংশ, যার পরে সাধারণত antistrophe আসে।
