From pug (a small dog breed with a short, flat face) + faced; pug is recorded from the 16th–17th centuries in English, later applied to the dog breed, and pug-faced appears in later descriptive use.
ইংরেজি pug (চ্যাপ্টা-মুখের ছোট কুকুরজাত, পাগ) + faced (মুখওয়ালা) থেকে গঠিত; pug শব্দটি ইংরেজিতে ১৬–১৭ শতক থেকে পাওয়া যায়, পরে কুকুরের একটি জাত বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়, এবং সেখান থেকেই বর্ণনামূলকভাবে pug-faced কথাটি পরে প্রচলিত হয়।
