ইংরেজি ‘O-ring’ (অক্ষর ‘O’-এর মতো বৃত্তাকার রিং) থেকে বাংলা প্রযুক্তিগত ব্যবহারে গৃহীত; নামটি রিংটির ‘O’ আকৃতি থেকে এসেছে।
Borrowed into Bengali technical usage from English ‘O-ring’ (a ring shaped like the letter ‘O’); the name comes from its O-like circular shape.

ও-রিং হলো বৃত্তাকার (টোরাস-আকৃতির) রাবার/ইলাস্টোমারের তৈরি একটি সিল, যা দুটি পৃষ্ঠের মাঝখানে চেপে বসিয়ে তরল বা গ্যাসের লিকেজ বন্ধ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়; পাইপ, ভাল্ভ, পাম্প, হাইড্রোলিক/নিউম্যাটিক যন্ত্রে এটি খুব সাধারণ।
An O-ring is a circular (torus-shaped) rubber/elastomer seal compressed between two surfaces to prevent leakage of liquids or gases; it is common in pipes, valves, pumps, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
