বাংলায় আত্মীয়তাসূচক শব্দ ‘কাকা’ (পিতার ছোট ভাই) থেকে ‘-ী’ প্রত্যয়যোগে গঠিত, অর্থাৎ ‘কাকার স্ত্রী’; ‘কাকা’ শব্দের শিকড় সংস্কৃত ‘কাক’/প্রাকৃত উৎস-সম্পর্কিত বলে ধরা হয়
