ক্রিয়া ‘বুঝা’ মূলত প্রাচীন/মধ্য বাংলায় প্রচলিত ‘বুঝ্/বুঝা’ ধাতু থেকে বিকশিত; কথ্য ব্যবহারে এটি ‘বোঝা’ (ভার/বোঝাই) শব্দের সঙ্গেও মিলিত হয়ে গেছে।
The verb ‘বুঝা’ developed from older Bengali verbal roots/forms akin to ‘বুঝ্/বুঝা’ meaning ‘to understand’; in colloquial usage it has also overlapped with the noun ‘বোঝা’ meaning ‘a load/bundle’.
Definition
‘বুঝা’ বলতে কোনো বিষয়, কথা, ইঙ্গিত বা পরিস্থিতির অর্থ/মর্ম ধরা, জ্ঞান দিয়ে উপলব্ধি করা, কিংবা কোনো নিয়ম-নীতি আয়ত্ত করা বোঝায়; আবার কথ্য বাংলায় ‘বুঝা’ শব্দটি কখনও ‘বোঝা (ভার/প্যাকেট)’ অর্থেও ব্যবহৃত হয় (যেমন: বাজারের বোঝা)।
‘বুঝা’ means to grasp or comprehend the meaning/essence of a matter, statement, hint, or situation; to understand with reasoning; or to learn and internalize a rule or method. In colloquial Bengali, it is also sometimes used to mean ‘বোঝা’ (a load/bundle), e.g., a shopping load.
