From earlier English snag meaning a stump or projecting part (recorded from the 16th–17th centuries), later extended to the sense of an obstacle/problem; ultimately of uncertain origin.
Snag शब्द का प्रयोग पहले अंग्रेज़ी में ठूँठ/नुकीले उभार के अर्थ में (लगभग 16वीं–17वीं शताब्दी से) मिलता है; बाद में इसका अर्थ बढ़कर बाधा/समस्या के लिए भी होने लगा। इसकी मूल व्युत्पत्ति निश्चित नहीं मानी जाती।
Definition
A snag is (1) a difficulty or unexpected problem that delays progress, or (2) a sharp projection or rough point that catches or tears something (like cloth), or (3) a pulled thread in fabric; as a verb it means to catch/tear on something, or to quickly obtain/grab something.
Snag का अर्थ (1) कोई अचनाक आने वाली अड़चन/समस्या है जो काम में देरी कर दे, या (2) कोई नुकीला उभार/खुरदुरा हिस्सा जो किसी चीज़ (जैसे कपड़ा) को फँसा या फाड़ दे, या (3) कपड़े का उधड़ा हुआ धागा; क्रिया के रूप में इसका मतलब किसी चीज़ में फँसना/फँसाना या जल्दी से कुछ हासिल/झपट लेना होता है।
