मध्य अंग्रेज़ी tine से; पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी tīne (“टहनी/अंकुर/नुकीली शाखा”) से, जो प्रोटो-जर्मैनिक *tīnaz (“टहनी/शाखा”) से निकला माना जाता है।
Definition
A tine is a narrow, pointed projection—like the prong of a fork or the tooth of a comb; it can also mean a small branch on an antler or horn, and in older/rare use it refers to a wild vetch (tare).
