“Puddling” can mean (1) water collecting into small pools (puddles), (2) someone splashing or playing in those puddles, (3) a technical process in metallurgy (puddling pig iron) or in earthworks/canal building where wet clay is worked to make a dense, watertight lining, and (4) in biology, butterflies and other animals gathering on damp soil to absorb salts and nutrients.
