From Middle English pest (plague), from Old French peste, from Latin pestis meaning 'plague, deadly disease'; later extended to mean an annoying person or harmful creature.
यह शब्द मध्य अंग्रेज़ी 'pest' (महामारी/प्लेग) से आया, जो पुरानी फ़्रेंच 'peste' और लैटिन 'pestis' (महामारी, घातक रोग) से निकला; बाद में इसका अर्थ फैलकर 'तंग करने वाला व्यक्ति' या 'हानिकारक कीट/जीव' भी हो गया।
Definition
A pest is (1) a person who repeatedly annoys or bothers others, or (2) an animal/insect/organism that causes harm, especially to crops, food, or homes.
'पेस्ट' (pest) (1) ऐसा व्यक्ति जो बार-बार परेशान करे या तंग करे, या (2) ऐसा कीट/जीव जो फसलों, भोजन या घर-बार को नुकसान पहुँचाए।
