लेटिन 'parodia' के माध्यम से प्राचीन यूनानी 'parōidía' से, जहाँ 'pará' (साथ में/अनुकरण में) + 'ōidḗ' (गीत) मिलकर बना; मूल अर्थ था मज़ाकिया/व्यंग्यात्मक गीत।
Definition
A parody is a creative imitation that copies the recognizable features of an original work (such as a film, song, book, or style) but changes or exaggerates them to create humor, irony, or criticism; as a verb, it means to create such an imitation.
पैरोडी किसी मूल कृति (जैसे फ़िल्म, गीत, पुस्तक या शैली) की पहचानने योग्य विशेषताओं की रचनात्मक नकल होती है, जिसमें हास्य, विडंबना या आलोचना के लिए बातों को बदलकर या बढ़ा-चढ़ाकर दिखाया जाता है; क्रिया के रूप में इसका अर्थ है ऐसी नकल बनाना।
