Definition
In general use, to osculate means “to kiss.” In technical contexts (especially geometry), it means to touch at a single point so that the curves share a common tangent; more broadly, it can mean to make contact or to serve as a connecting link between groups.
सामान्य प्रयोग में osculate का अर्थ “चूमना” होता है। तकनीकी संदर्भों (विशेषकर ज्यामिति) में इसका अर्थ किसी एक बिंदु पर इस प्रकार स्पर्श करना है कि दोनों वक्रों की स्पर्शरेखा (tangent) उस बिंदु पर समान हो; व्यापक अर्थ में यह “संपर्क में आना” या “समूहों/वर्गों के बीच जोड़ने वाली कड़ी बनना” भी हो सकता है।
