Definition
In medieval English law, murdrum was a monetary penalty imposed on a community (or hundred) when a homicide occurred and the killer was not found or when the killing was not properly reported; it was especially associated with the presumption that a slain person was Norman unless proven otherwise.
मध्ययुगीन अंग्रेज़ी क़ानून में ‘murdrum’ वह धन-दंड था जो किसी समुदाय/‘hundred’ पर तब लगाया जाता था जब हत्या हो जाए और हत्यारा न पकड़ा जाए या घटना की सही तरह से सूचना न दी गई हो; यह विशेष रूप से उस धारणा से जुड़ा था कि मारा गया व्यक्ति, जब तक अन्यथा सिद्ध न हो, नॉर्मन माना जाएगा।
