Definition
“Indexes” most commonly means lists (often alphabetical) that show where items can be found (e.g., in a book or database). It can also mean multiple numerical measures (e.g., price indexes) or, in computing, positions/keys used to locate data in arrays or tables; as a verb, it means ‘creates/uses an index’ or ‘accesses data by an index.’
