Definition
To hypothecate means to use property or assets as collateral to secure a loan (often without physically handing them over), or in public finance, to earmark a particular tax revenue for a specific purpose.
Hypothecate का अर्थ है किसी ऋण के बदले संपत्ति/आस्तियों को गिरवी (सुरक्षा) के रूप में रखना (अक्सर बिना वास्तविक कब्ज़ा दिए); और सार्वजनिक वित्त में किसी विशेष कर/कर-वृद्धि की आय को किसी निश्चित खर्च के लिए आरक्षित/निर्धारित करना।
