From hip (architecture: the external angle formed by the meeting of two sloping roof sides) + roofed; hip in this sense is recorded in English from the late Middle English period.
‘hip’ (वास्तुकला में: दो ढलानदार छत सतहों के मिलने से बनने वाला बाहरी कोना/रिज) + ‘roofed’ से बना; ‘hip’ का यह अर्थ अंग्रेज़ी में उत्तर मध्य-अंग्रेज़ी काल (late Middle English) से मिलता है।

Describing a building or structure whose roof has four sloping sides that meet along hips rather than vertical gable ends.
ऐसे भवन/संरचना का वर्णन जिसमें छत चारों ओर से ढलान बनाते हुए नीचे आती है और किनारों पर ‘हिप’ (कोने की उठी हुई रेखाएँ) बनती हैं; इसमें गेबिल (त्रिकोणी ऊर्ध्वाधर सिरा) नहीं होता।
