From Greek oikoumenē (“the inhabited world”), via ecclesiastical/modern Latin and French, forming ecumenical and then ecumenism (19th–20th century usage for church unity).
यूनानी oikoumenē (“बसा हुआ संसार/आवासित जगत”) से, कलीसियाई/आधुनिक लैटिन और फ़्रांसीसी के माध्यम से; पहले ecumenical बना और फिर ecumenism (19वीं–20वीं शताब्दी में कलीसियाई एकता के अर्थ में प्रचलित)।

Ecumenism is the effort to foster understanding, dialogue, and practical cooperation among different Christian denominations, often aiming for greater unity without erasing distinct traditions.
