From ecumenic (ecumenical) + -ity; ultimately from Greek oikoumenē meaning “the inhabited world,” later used in the sense of “universal (church).”

Ecumenicity refers to the principle or practice of fostering unity, mutual understanding, and cooperation among different Christian denominations, and sometimes among different religions more broadly.
