Formed from ecumenic(al) + -ize; ultimately from Greek oikoumenē ‘the inhabited world’, source of ‘ecumenical’ (general council of the whole Church).
ecumenic(al) + -ize से बना; मूलतः यूनानी oikoumenē ‘आबाद/बसा हुआ संसार’ से, जिससे ‘ecumenical’ (समूचे चर्च की सार्वभौमिक परिषद) शब्द निकला।
Definition
To encourage, organize, or shape beliefs/practices/relationships so that different Christian denominations (and sometimes wider religious groups) cooperate or move toward unity; to adopt an ecumenical outlook.
