From French dégras, literally 'degreased (fat removed)', used in tanning for the fatty residue obtained in chamoising.

Definition
Degras is a fatty, greasy substance obtained as a residue during the chamois-leather (oil-tanning) process; it is used to dress/soften leather and may be used as a lubricant or in industrial applications.
डिग्रास चमड़ा (विशेषकर शेमोआ/तेल-टैनिंग) बनाने की प्रक्रिया में निकलने वाला वसायुक्त, चिकना अवशेष है; इसका उपयोग चमड़े को मुलायम/तैयार करने और कभी-कभी स्नेहक या अन्य औद्योगिक कार्यों में किया जाता है।
