From Late Latin degradatio (“a reducing in rank”), from degradare (“to reduce in rank”), from de- (“down”) + gradus (“step, degree”); later extended to general deterioration and humiliation.

Definition
Degradations are multiple instances or types of decline—such as a reduction in quality, value, rank, or moral standing; in another sense, they can mean acts or experiences that humiliate or debase someone, and in technical contexts they may refer to progressive deterioration (e.g., environmental or material degradation).
Degradations का अर्थ कई प्रकार के पतन/गिरावट से है—जैसे गुणवत्ता, मूल्य, पद, या नैतिक स्तर में कमी; एक अन्य अर्थ में यह किसी को अपमानित या नीचा दिखाने वाले कृत्यों/अनुभवों को भी दर्शाता है; तकनीकी संदर्भों में यह क्रमिक क्षय/क्षरण (जैसे पर्यावरणीय या सामग्री का क्षरण) के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता है।
