From Middle English (15th century) crimp/crymp, possibly from Middle Dutch/Middle Low German krimpen meaning ‘to shrink, contract’; later used for ‘curling/creasing’ hair and materials.
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी (15वीं सदी) के crimp/crymp से; संभवतः मिडल डच/मिडल लो जर्मन krimpen (‘सिकुड़ना, संकुचित होना’) से सम्बद्ध; बाद में बाल और पदार्थों को ‘लहरदार/सिलवटी’ बनाने के अर्थ में प्रयोग बढ़ा।
