शतरंज में ‘castle’ क्रिया ‘castle’ (किला/गढ़) संज्ञा से बनी है, जिसकी जड़ें फ्रेंच/लैटिन में ‘किले/गढ़’ के अर्थ से जुड़ी हैं; शतरंज वाला अर्थ राजा को ‘किले जैसी’ सुरक्षा में ले जाने की धारणा से विकसित हुआ।
Definition
Used mainly in chess to describe a position after castling (the king has moved two squares toward a rook and the rook has moved to the square the king crossed), usually to improve king safety and connect rooks. Less commonly, it can mean 'fortified/placed in a castle.'
यह शब्द मुख्यतः शतरंज में उस स्थिति के लिए उपयोग होता है जब खिलाड़ी ने ‘कास्टलिंग’ कर ली हो (राजा किश्तों में से किसी एक रुख की ओर दो घर चलता है और रुख राजा द्वारा पार किए गए घर पर आ जाता है), जिससे सामान्यतः राजा की सुरक्षा बढ़ती है और दोनों रुख सक्रिय होते हैं। कभी-कभी इसका अर्थ ‘किले में रखा/किलेबंद’ भी हो सकता है।
