Origin & History
From Modern Latin Ammonites, named after Ammon (an epithet of the Egyptian god Amun/Jupiter Ammon), because the coiled shells resemble ram’s horns.
आधुनिक लैटिन ‘Ammonites’ से; नाम ‘Ammon’ (मिस्री देवता आमुन/जूपिटर अमोन का उपनाम) से जुड़ा है, क्योंकि इनके कुंडलीदार खोल मेढ़े के सींग जैसे दिखते हैं।
Definition
Ammonites were marine cephalopods that lived millions of years ago and are known today mainly from their coiled, chambered fossil shells used to study ancient seas and geologic time.
