From Latin votivus (“of a vow, promised”), from votum (“vow, wish”), from vovere (“to vow”). The adverb is formed in English from votive + -ly.
লাতিন votivus (‘মানত/শপথ-সম্পর্কিত, প্রতিশ্রুত’) থেকে; উৎস votum (‘মানত, কামনা’) এবং vovere (‘মানত করা/শপথ করা’)। ইংরেজিতে votive + -ly যোগে ক্রিয়াবিশেষণটি গঠিত।
