“sainted” এসেছে “saint” (কাউকে সন্ত ঘোষণা করা) ক্রিয়া থেকে; শব্দমূলের উৎস পুরাতন ফরাসি saint এবং লাতিন sanctus (“পবিত্র/পুণ্য”). “-ed” যোগে এটি অতীত ক্রিয়াবিশেষ্য ও বিশেষণরূপে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Definition
“Sainted” is used (1) as the past tense/past participle of the verb “to saint,” meaning to canonize or formally recognize someone as a saint; and (2) as an adjective meaning made a saint, saint-like and revered, or (in conversation) a respectful way to refer to a beloved person who has died (“my sainted mother”).
“sainted” শব্দটি (১) ক্রিয়া “to saint”-এর অতীত/অতীত ক্রিয়াবিশেষ্য রূপ—অর্থাৎ কাউকে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে সন্ত হিসেবে ঘোষণা/ক্যানোনাইজ করা; এবং (২) বিশেষণ হিসেবে—সন্ত ঘোষিত, সন্তসুলভ ও শ্রদ্ধেয়; অথবা কথাবার্তায় প্রয়াত প্রিয়জনকে শ্রদ্ধাসূচকভাবে উল্লেখ করতে (“my sainted mother” = “আমার প্রয়াত/শ্রদ্ধেয় মা”) ব্যবহৃত হয়।
