From French pébrine, derived from Provençal (Occitan) pebre meaning “pepper,” referring to the pepper-like spots seen in infected silkworms.
ফরাসি pébrine থেকে শব্দটি এসেছে, যা প্রোভেনসাল/অক্সিতান pebre (‘গোলমরিচ’) শব্দ থেকে উদ্ভূত; সংক্রমিত রেশমকীটে গোলমরিচের দানার মতো দাগ দেখা যায় বলেই এই নাম।
Definition
Pebrine is an infectious disease of silkworms (Bombyx mori) caused mainly by the microsporidian parasite Nosema bombycis; it spreads especially through infected eggs (vertical transmission) and results in pepper-like black spots, stunted growth, poor cocoon yield, and death.
পেব্রিন হলো রেশমকীটের (Bombyx mori) একটি সংক্রামক রোগ, যা প্রধানত মাইক্রোস্পোরিডিয়ান পরজীবী Nosema bombycis দ্বারা ঘটে; এটি বিশেষ করে সংক্রমিত ডিমের মাধ্যমে (উল্লম্ব সংক্রমণ) ছড়ায় এবং দেহে গোলমরিচের দানার মতো কালো দাগ, বৃদ্ধি ব্যাহত হওয়া, কম কোকুন উৎপাদন ও মৃত্যুর কারণ হতে পারে।
