Definition
Ocher (also spelled ochre) is an earthy mineral pigment rich in iron oxide (and often clay), used since prehistoric times in painting, dyeing, cosmetics, and rock art; its shades range from yellow ocher to red ocher depending on hydration and composition.
ওচার (ochre নামেও লেখা হয়) হলো লৌহ অক্সাইড-সমৃদ্ধ (এবং অনেক সময় কাদামাটিযুক্ত) প্রাকৃতিক মাটির রঞ্জক, যা প্রাগৈতিহাসিক যুগ থেকে চিত্রাঙ্কন, রং করা, প্রসাধনী ও গুহা/শিলা-চিত্রকলায় ব্যবহৃত হয়ে আসছে; এর রঙ হলুদ ওচার থেকে লাল ওচার পর্যন্ত হতে পারে, যা মূলত জলীয় অবস্থা ও উপাদানগত পার্থক্যের ওপর নির্ভর করে।
