From north + east + the agentive suffix -er, meaning ‘wind from the northeast’; in American English also influenced by the variant spelling/pronunciation nor’easter (from ‘northeaster’ with elision).

Definition
A northeaster is (1) a wind that blows from the northeast, and (2) especially in North American use, a strong storm (nor’easter) associated with winds from the northeast; it can also mean someone or something from the northeastern region.
‘নর্থইস্টার’ বলতে (১) উত্তর-পূর্ব দিক থেকে বয়ে আসা বাতাসকে বোঝায়, এবং (২) বিশেষত উত্তর আমেরিকায়, উত্তর-পূর্ব দিকের প্রবল বাতাসসহ তীব্র ঝড় (nor’easter) বোঝায়; এছাড়া উত্তর-পূর্ব অঞ্চলের কোনো ব্যক্তি বা বস্তু বোঝাতেও ব্যবহৃত হয়।
