Definition

Nivation is a type of geomorphological erosion and weathering that happens around persistent snow patches, where repeated freezing and thawing (and meltwater) loosen and remove rock and soil, gradually forming hollows or nivation niches.

নিভেশন (nivation) হলো ভূ-আকৃতিবিদ্যাগত এক ধরনের ক্ষয় ও আবহবিকার, যা স্থায়ী/দীর্ঘস্থায়ী তুষার-আবরণের আশেপাশে ঘটে; এখানে বারবার জমাট বাঁধা ও গলন (এবং গলিত পানির প্রবাহ) শিলা ও মাটিকে আলগা করে সরিয়ে দেয়, ফলে ধীরে ধীরে গর্ত/অববাহিকা বা ‘নিভেশন নিস’ তৈরি হয়।
