‘উপচে’ (উপ + চা/চয় ‘উঠে আসা/ফুলে ওঠা’ ভাব) এবং ‘পড়া’ ক্রিয়ার সমাসবদ্ধ রূপ; অর্থে ‘উপর দিকে উঠে এসে গড়িয়ে পড়া/ছড়িয়ে পড়া’—দেশজ কথ্য ব্যবহারেও প্রচলিত
A compound of ‘উপচে’ (up + root conveying ‘to rise/swelling up’) and the verb ‘পড়া’; literally ‘to rise up and spill/flow down’, also common in colloquial Bengali
