From Sanskrit ‘saṃvedana’ (saṃ- + √vid ‘to know/feel’), which yielded Bengali ‘সংবেদন’

Definition

‘সংবেদন’ বলতে ইন্দ্রিয় বা মনের মাধ্যমে কোনো উদ্দীপনা/ঘটনা অনুভব করা, সেই অনুভূতির সাড়া (প্রতিক্রিয়া) এবং কখনও অন্যের দুঃখ-সুখ উপলব্ধির কোমলতা/সহানুভূতির ভাব বোঝায়

‘সংবেদন’ refers to sensing a stimulus or event through the senses or mind, the responsive reaction to that feeling, and sometimes the tenderness/empathy of being moved by others’ joy or sorrow
