‘প্রচলিত’ (চলিত/চলন থেকে—‘চল’ ধাতু, অর্থ ‘চলা/চলতে থাকা’) + নামবাচক প্রত্যয় ‘-তা’; অর্থাৎ ‘প্রচলিত থাকার গুণ/অবস্থা’।
From Bengali/Sanskrit-derived formation: ‘প্রচলিত’ (from ‘চল/চলন’, root meaning “to move/be in circulation”) + nominal suffix ‘-তা’, yielding “the quality/state of being in circulation or commonly used.”
Definition
সমাজে কোনো বিষয় দীর্ঘদিন ধরে ব্যাপকভাবে ব্যবহৃত, অনুসৃত বা স্বীকৃত থাকার অবস্থা/মাত্রাকেই ‘প্রচলিততা’ বলা হয়; যেমন কোনো শব্দের প্রচলিততা, কোনো রীতির প্রচলিততা।
