বাংলা ‘পড়বে’ এসেছে ক্রিয়া ‘পড়া’ থেকে; ‘পড়া’ শব্দটি মধ্য-ভারতীয় ভাষার ধারা হয়ে সংস্কৃত ‘পঠ্’ (পাঠ করা) এবং পৃথকভাবে সংস্কৃত ‘পত্’ (পতিত হওয়া) ধাতুর সঙ্গে ঐতিহাসিকভাবে সম্পর্কিত অর্থবিকাশ দেখায়
Bengali “পড়বে” is derived from the verb “পড়া”; “পড়া” historically develops along Middle Indo-Aryan pathways and is connected in sense-development to Sanskrit √पठ् (to read/study) and, in a separate semantic line, √पत् (to fall)

‘পড়বে’ শব্দটি ‘পড়া’ ক্রিয়ার ভবিষ্যৎ কাল (সাধারণ ভবিষ্যৎ) নির্দেশ করে; সাধারণত সে/এটা/ও (তৃতীয় পুরুষ একবচন) ভবিষ্যতে পড়াশোনা করবে, বই পড়বে, পাঠ করবে—এই অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়; কিছু প্রসঙ্গে ‘পড়ে যাবে/পতিত হবে’ অর্থেও ব্যবহার হতে পারে
