সংস্কৃত ‘অবহিত’ (অর্থ: অবগত/জানানো) থেকে বাংলা ব্যবহারে এসেছে; উপসর্গ ‘অব-’ এবং ধাতুগত অর্থে ‘হিত/ধাতুজ’ ধারণার মাধ্যমে ‘জানানো/অবগত করা’ অর্থ বিকশিত।
From Sanskrit ‘avahita’ (meaning: aware/informed; also used in the sense of having been made aware), adopted into Bengali; the prefix ‘ava-’ contributed to the developed sense of ‘to inform / to make aware’.
Definition
‘অবহিত’ বলতে কাউকে কোনো তথ্য, খবর, সিদ্ধান্ত বা পরিস্থিতি সম্পর্কে জানানো বা অবগত করা বোঝায়; আবার কারও অবস্থা বোঝাতেও ব্যবহৃত হয়—যেমন ‘তিনি বিষয়টি সম্পর্কে অবহিত’ অর্থাৎ তিনি জানেন/সচেতন।
‘অবহিত’ refers to informing someone or making them aware of information, news, a decision, or a situation; it is also used to describe a person’s state—e.g., ‘তিনি বিষয়টি সম্পর্কে অবহিত’ meaning he is aware/informed.
