ফারসি ‘খোশ’ (খুশি/সন্তুষ্ট) + ‘আমদ’ (আসা/উপস্থিত হওয়া) থেকে ‘খোশামদ’/‘খোশামদে’, অর্থ ‘খুশি করানো/প্রসন্ন করা’; বাংলা ব্যবহারে অর্থ দাঁড়ায় অতিরিক্ত তোষামোদ বা চাটুকারি

From Persian ‘khosh’ (pleasant/pleased) + ‘āmad’ (coming/arrival), yielding ‘khoshāmad’/‘khoshāmede’ meaning ‘to please/welcome’; in Bengali usage it came to denote excessive flattery or sycophancy
