বাংলা ধাতু-ব্যবস্থায় ‘কাম’/‘কামা’ ধাতু থেকে গঠিত ক্রিয়া; অর্থের বিস্তার হয়েছে ‘কেটে সরানো/ছেঁটে নেওয়া’ থেকে ‘অর্জন করা/আয় করা’-তে
Formed in Bengali from the verbal root ‘কাম/কামা’; the sense broadened from ‘to cut/shave off’ to ‘to obtain/earn (income, profit)’
Definition
কামানো বলতে সাধারণত দুই অর্থ বোঝায়—(১) ধারালো অস্ত্র দিয়ে কেটে টুকরো/পাতলা অংশ আলাদা করা (যেমন কাঠ বা বাঁশ কামানো), (২) পরিশ্রম বা কাজের মাধ্যমে অর্থ/লাভ অর্জন করা
“কামানো” commonly has two senses: (1) to cut/slice off thin pieces with a sharp tool (e.g., shaving bamboo/wood), and (2) to earn money or gain profit through work/effort
