‘বসে পড়া’ বলতে দাঁড়ানো বা চলমান অবস্থা থেকে শরীর নিচে নামিয়ে বসার অবস্থায় যাওয়াকে বোঝায়; কখনও ক্লান্তি, দুর্বলতা, ধাক্কা, বা অনিচ্ছাকৃতভাবে হঠাৎ বসে যাওয়াও বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। রূপক অর্থে কোনো কাজ, আলোচনা, বা উদ্যোগ হঠাৎ থেমে যাওয়া/ভেঙে পড়া অর্থেও ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।
