From text + book; originally meaning a book of text used for instruction, later extended to the adjective sense ‘typical/standard example’.
‘टेक्स्ट’ + ‘बुक’ से बना; आरंभ में इसका अर्थ पढ़ाई/निर्देश के लिए प्रयुक्त पाठ की पुस्तक था, बाद में विशेषण के रूप में ‘आदर्श/मानक उदाहरण’ के अर्थ में भी उपयोग होने लगा।

टेक्स्टबुक (पाठ्यपुस्तक) वह पुस्तक है जो किसी विषय को क्रमबद्ध और औपचारिक ढंग से पढ़ाने के लिए बनाई जाती है और प्रायः स्कूल/कॉलेज में उपयोग होती है; विशेषण के रूप में यह किसी चीज़ को ‘मानक/आदर्श उदाहरण’ जैसा या ‘पुस्तकीय/शिक्षणात्मक’ (अक्सर रूखा) शैली वाला बताता है।
