From Old French "test" (earthen pot, cupel) and Medieval Latin "testum/testa" (pot, shell), later developing the sense of a trial or examination.
यह शब्द पुरानी फ़्रेंच "test" (मिट्टी का बर्तन/कपेल) और मध्यकालीन लैटिन "testum/testa" (बर्तन/खोल) से आया; बाद में इसका अर्थ ‘परीक्षा/परख’ यानी ‘कसौटी’ के रूप में विकसित हुआ।

A test is something used to check or measure how good, true, safe, or effective something is (for example: an exam at school, a medical test, or a product trial).
