From tail + piece, literally “a piece at the tail/end”; recorded in English from the 17th–18th centuries, with specialized uses in music and technical fields.
tail (पूँछ/अंत) + piece (टुकड़ा/हिस्सा) से बना; अर्थतः “अंत पर लगा हिस्सा”; अंग्रेज़ी में 17वीं–18वीं शताब्दी से प्रचलित, और संगीत व तकनीकी क्षेत्रों में विशिष्ट अर्थों में विकसित।
Definition
An extra part attached at the end of something; in music, the piece on instruments like a violin or guitar where the strings are fastened at the lower end; also used for a short joist in framing, a telescope section holding eyepiece-adjustment parts, or a lock part that transfers motion to the latch.
किसी वस्तु के अंत में जुड़ा अतिरिक्त भाग; संगीत में वायलिन/गिटार आदि के निचले सिरे पर वह हिस्सा जहाँ तार (strings) बँधे होते हैं; इसके अलावा भवन-निर्माण में हेडर और दीवार के बीच का छोटा जोइस्ट, दूरबीन का वह भाग जहाँ आईपीस समायोजन तंत्र होता है, या ताले का वह भाग जो हब से लैच-बोल्ट तक गति पहुँचाता है।
