From side + line; originally referring to a line at the side (especially in sports), later extended to mean a secondary activity and, as a verb (20th century), to mean keep out of action.
side + line से बना शब्द; शुरुआत में ‘साइड की रेखा’ (विशेषकर खेलों में) के अर्थ में, बाद में ‘द्वितीयक/अतिरिक्त काम’ के अर्थ में विस्तारित हुआ और 20वीं सदी में क्रिया रूप में ‘कार्रवाई/खेल से बाहर कर देना’ के अर्थ में प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
Sideline can mean (1) to force someone to stop taking part in an activity, often because of injury or a decision; (2) a secondary job or activity done alongside a main one; or (3) the boundary line along the side of a sports field/court.
Sideline का अर्थ हो सकता है: (1) किसी को (अक्सर चोट या निर्णय के कारण) किसी गतिविधि/काम में भाग लेने से रोक देना; (2) मुख्य काम के साथ-साथ किया जाने वाला अतिरिक्त/द्वितीयक काम या गतिविधि; या (3) खेल के मैदान/कोर्ट की साइड सीमा-रेखा।
