From Middle English, probably from a Germanic source; first recorded in the 16th century for the fish, later extended figuratively to an unscrupulous person.
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी से, सम्भवतः किसी जर्मैनिक स्रोत से; मछली के अर्थ में 16वीं शताब्दी में पहली बार दर्ज, बाद में अर्थ का विस्तार होकर धूर्त/शोषक व्यक्ति के लिए भी प्रयोग होने लगा।
Definition
A shark is a predatory fish (Selachimorpha) with a skeleton made of cartilage and multiple gill slits; in informal use, it can also mean a dishonest or very aggressive person who takes advantage of others (e.g., a loan shark).
शार्क (Selachimorpha) एक शिकारी मछली है, जिसका कंकाल हड्डी के बजाय उपास्थि (कार्टिलेज) से बना होता है और सिर के दोनों ओर कई गलफड़े की दरारें होती हैं; बोलचाल में इसका अर्थ ऐसा धूर्त/बहुत आक्रामक व्यक्ति भी हो सकता है जो दूसरों का फायदा उठाए (जैसे loan shark)।
