Definition
Resin is a viscous, sticky substance produced naturally by many trees (such as pine); it can protect the plant by sealing wounds and deterring insects, and it hardens into a solid used for varnish, incense, and amber-like materials. The term also covers man‑made (synthetic) resins used to make plastics, fiberglass composites, glues, and surface coatings.
रेज़िन/राल एक चिपचिपा पदार्थ है जो कई पेड़ों (जैसे चीड़) से प्राकृतिक रूप से निकलता है; यह घाव को भरकर और कीटों को रोककर पौधे की रक्षा करता है तथा हवा के संपर्क में आकर सख्त हो जाता है। इसका उपयोग वार्निश, धूप/अगरबत्ती, और एम्बर जैसे पदार्थों में होता है। यह शब्द कृत्रिम (सिंथेटिक) रेज़िन के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता है, जिनसे प्लास्टिक, फाइबरग्लास कॉम्पोज़िट, गोंद और कोटिंग्स बनाई जाती हैं।
