यह पुराने अंग्रेज़ी प्रयोग 'rag-tag' से निकला, जिसका अर्थ था 'फटे-पुराने कपड़ों में/चिथड़ों में'; बाद में इसका अर्थ बढ़कर 'बेमेल, अव्यवस्थित समूह' हो गया। यह 'rag' (चिथड़ा/फटा कपड़ा) + 'tag' (लटकता सिरा/टुकड़ा) पर आधारित है।
Definition
Used to describe a motley, poorly organized collection (often of people) that seems thrown together rather than carefully formed. It can be mildly humorous or slightly dismissive, but sometimes admiring when the group succeeds despite its lack of order.
