From the verb quilt (to stitch layers of fabric together), ultimately from Middle English quilte, from Old French cuilte/coilte, from Latin culcita ‘mattress, cushion’.
quilt (परतों वाले कपड़े को सिलकर जोड़ना) क्रिया से बना; मूलतः मध्य अंग्रेज़ी quilte, पुरानी फ़्रेंच cuilte/coilte के माध्यम से लैटिन culcita ‘गद्दा/तकिया’ से।
Definition
Quilted describes fabric, clothing, or upholstery made by stitching two layers (often with a padded middle) to create warmth, thickness, and a patterned surface. It can also mean simply having a quilt-like stitched texture.
Quilted का अर्थ है ऐसा कपड़ा/परिधान/साज-सज्जा सामग्री जिसमें दो (अक्सर बीच में भराव/रुई के साथ) परतों को सिलकर जोड़ा जाता है, जिससे गर्माहट, मोटाई और उभरा हुआ पैटर्न बनता है। कभी-कभी यह केवल ‘रजाई जैसा सिला हुआ टेक्सचर’ होने के अर्थ में भी आता है।
